Sun Air Jets is honored to announce that it has been presented with the 2022 Friendly Flyer Award from the Van Nuys Airport.  It is the company’s 9th such award since 2014, making it the recipient with the longest consecutive tenure.

According to the Los Angeles World Airports website, the voluntary Fly Friendly/Quiet Departure Program for jet aircraft was established in 1994 to address the community’s concerns regarding jet aircraft noise in neighboring areas. In 2012, the Friendly Flyer Award Program was created to identify and formally recognize jet operators that have achieved the highest levels of compliance with the mandatory noise regulations and the voluntary noise abatement programs at VNY. The Friendly Flyer Award is presented annually to jet operators that meet or exceed the following criteria during the award year. 

The award winners were determined using the following criteria:

1. At least 60 southbound jet departures
   
2. No violations of noise ordinances.
   
3. Observance of the Quieter Nights Program
   
4. 99% or greater compliance with the No Early Turn and the Quiet Jet Departure Programs

The program winners were recognized with a breakfast reception and recognition at the Los Angeles World Airport’s Board of Airport Commissioners meeting on June 15th, 2023.

Sun Air Jets hosted their annual Girls in Aviation Day on Saturday, September 24th at their Camarillo location.  Approximately 40 Girl Scouts from the Central Coast Chapter were invited to Camarillo Airport for a tour of Sun Air Jets and to learn about careers in aviation.

The Ventura County 99s Women’s Pilot Organization joined in the event and were on hand to provide 3 different aircraft for the group to tour.  There was a presentation from each of the 6 pilots on hand and an extensive question and answer session. The Girls Scouts also got to view the new Notable Women in Aviation Exhibit at the CAF Museum; an exhibit created by the Ventura County 99s with support from Sun Air Jets.

Sun Air Jets welcomed the public to their newest hangar space at Van Nuys Airport with a large grand opening event on September 23, 2022.

Held in conjunction with Aeroplex Group Partners, who helped secure the location, the event welcomed approximately 150 guests to join the Sun Air Jets and Aeroplex teams in their celebration.

Sun Air Jets is proud to be recognized by Van Nuys Airport (KVNY) during its 2021 Friendly Flyer Awards.

Van Nuys Airport (KVNY) has announced the recipients of its 2021 Friendly Flyer Awards, honoring general aviation companies and corporate flight departments for their efforts to reduce noise from jet aircraft operations.

Eighteen aircraft operators received recognition plaques for complying with all mandatory noise abatement policies, achieving at least 99 percent adherence with all voluntary noise abatement programs and reducing nighttime jet arrivals and departures under the Quieter Nights Program.
