After a grueling winter with cold temperatures and non-stop responsibility, heading out on a getaway in spring couldn’t come at a better time. You know you need a little r+r to recharge yourself – and this season is perfect for it. 

Spring is supposed to be a time of rejuvenation and revitalization. The grass is greener, the flowers are blooming, and the sun is shining more. So, why shouldn’t you? 

Choose one of these 9 popular U.S. destinations to visit this spring. You are sure to have experiences that will leave you feeling good. 

1. Outer Banks, NC

The Outer Banks, NC is an escape you didn’t know you needed. You can go for a bike ride or walk, relax on the beach, visit the lighthouse, go fishing, experience kiteboarding, climb the dunes, or visit attractions like the First Flight Adventure Park or Elizabethan Gardens. 

Time spent in the Outer Banks feels worlds away from the rest of the U.S. It’s refreshing. 

2. Boulder, CO

The scenery in Boulder is incredible, with both city and mountain views. It is like having the best of both worlds. You can head off into the mountains and go for hikes or bike rides – or even fishing. Or, you can stay in the city and enjoy some time at a few of the must-visit breweries (we’re talking award-winning). After all, beer-crafting is what Boulder is well-known for. You can also enjoy some great restaurants and shopping.

3. Lake Havasu City, AZ

If you are looking for more of a party scene to let loose during your spring getaway, Lake Havasu City is where it can be found. 

This Arizona city is a non-stop party and very popular among college kids. Though you will find great dining spots, boat tours (and boat rentals), live concerts, beaches and coves, fishing, and hiking, too.

4. Savannah, GA

Savannah is a laid-back southern city that will transport you back in time – almost literally with its long list of ghost tours. 

You can stroll through the historic downtown or on a nearby trail, visit the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge, or just delight your taste buds with southern cooking. If going to the beach is on your to-do list, then nearby Tybee Island is your go-to spot. Here you can play in the water, try fishing on a charter boat, or see the dolphins. 

No matter how you spend your time in Savannah, spring is the perfect time to visit.

5. Moab, UT

Moab is known for its trails and climbing spots for those looking for a challenge. And spring is the best time of year to enjoy them. There are a few places to do this, including the Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park. Needles and Maze Districts are a little more off-the-beaten-path if that is what you are looking for. 

The views in Moab are unmatched anywhere, They take your breath away. 

Of course, you can always find noteworthy shopping and dining while here, too. 

6. Chicago, IL

While it still may be a little chilly in the springtime, visiting the windy city is always fun. And it doesn’t let the weather slow anything down. While here, you will want to get out and explore all the city has to offer – including the touristy spots like Navy Pier and SkyDeck Chicago. If you don’t have a picture of yourself with The Bean, have you ever really been to Chicago?

7. Anchorage, AK

A lot can happen on a spring getaway to Anchorage, AK. The weather is warming up and the days are long. But, good news – you can still see the northern lights.

8. Orlando, FL

Are you a theme park enthusiast that wants to avoid summer crowds? Springtime is a great time to make it to Orlando, FL. The weather is warm, but still milder than in summer which makes walking amusement parks a bit more enjoyable. Not to mention the strong afternoon thunderstorms haven’t kicked in just yet – so rides and parks will stay open. 

Orlando is home to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios, as well as Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and SeaWorld. There are also many other attractions you won’t want to miss outside of the parks – and you are only about an hour away from the beach. What more could you ask for on a spring getaway? 

9. Pella, IA

Springtime in Pella, IA means walking through hundreds of thousands of tulips. This small town is known for its tulips – and visitors come from all over just to take in the beautiful sight. Did we mention the backdrop is made of Dutch windmills and you can enjoy it while indulging in Dutch pastries?
