Brian Counsil

President and Chief Operating Officer

Brian has been with Sun Air Jets since its inception and has been involved with every aspect of growing the enterprise from its early days as a fixed and rotor wing flight training academy at Camarillo Airport to its current position as a world-class FBO and international jet charter company. Rising from humble beginnings, Sun Air Jets now proudly operates over 180,000 square feet of office and hangar space at both the Camarillo and Van Nuys airports and flies and maintains a fleet of Part 91 and Part 135 corporate jets. As an aviation tax attorney and accountant, Brian not only leads Sun Air Jets as the expert in legal, tax and financial aspects of our business, but unique to our industry, also offers that expert advice to the aircraft owners in Sun Air Jets’ managed aircraft fleet. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis.

Charles O’Dell

Director of Operations

Charles has been a professional pilot for 21 years logging over 12,000 safe flying hours. He has extensive experience in both FAR Part 121 Air Carrier operations as well as Part 135 on-demand air charter services. He has served as an advanced simulator instructor and has FAA check airman authority. Mr. ODell has a BBA degree from California Coast University and is currently pursuing an MBA degree. Mr. ODell oversees the Sun Air Jets Safety Management Systems program that has received acceptance and certification from the four leading independent aviation auditing agencies, Wyvern, IS-BAO, the Air Charter Safety Foundation, and ARG/US.

Greg Paxson

Director of Maintenance

Greg has been continuously engaged in corporate aviation since graduating from the San Jose State University Aviation Department in roles ranging from technician to pilot to Director of Maintenance. Driven by a commitment to provide world-class service to the aircraft maintenance industry, in 1999 he founded a FAR Part 145 Repair Station which eventually became the Maintenance Department for one of the county’s largest Part 135 operators. Greg has been recognized by numerous organizations for safety, leadership, and excellence in aircraft maintenance and operations including the FAA, NATA, and Director of Maintenance Magazine. Greg will oversee the maintenance management of the Sun Air 135 fleet and aircraft maintained by the 145 Repair Station.

Adam Steiner

General Counsel

Adam is a member of Sun Air’s in-house legal team. He is an attorney specializing in legal and financial matters relating to business aircraft ownership and operation. Along with Mr. Counsil, Mr. Steiner provides legal, financial, and tax assistance to Sun Air Jets’ managed aircraft clients. Mr. Steiner holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and both Juris Doctor and MBA degrees from Chapman University. He is also an instrument-rated pilot.

Stephen E. Maloney

Director of Finance & Administration

Steve has over 30 years of aviation experience in senior management positions. He is a retired senior Naval Officer as well as airline pilot. His business aviation experience ranges from running small consulting companies up to senior management positions in multiple locations with an international original equipment manufacturer, working in its corporate headquarters as well as in its maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility. Steve is an airline transport rated pilot with over 15,000 flight hours. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and a Master’s Degree in Finance from Boston College.
